I love teaching children to READ!!!

When I am not teaching my most favorite thing to do is spend time with my family. I have a little girl named Adalae and she keeps me very busy.  I have one yellow lab named Brooke, and a black and white cat named Kitty.

My favorite movies of all time are the “Anne of Green Gables” set.

My favorite quote from the movie is …….
“Tomorrow is always fresh with no mistakes in it…
Well at least not yet!”

I have learned that you can always push yourself to do better so I try to teach my students to do their best.

I have a motto for my students as well...
Good Better Best
Never Let it Rest
Until Your Good is Better
And
Your Better is Best!

This simply means never give up and always push yourself to be your absolute best!

I send home a newsletter once a week. It is a very rare occasion that I do not do this. On this sheet you will find your student's homework as well as any school information that you will need to know for that week.

Please contact me at anytime for any reason abarnett@lufkinisd.org or call the school at 936-639-3118 to set up a conference.

If you send me an e-mail concerning your student, I do ask that you put your student's first and last name in the subject bar. This will help me know that it is an e-mail from a parent and not junk mail.
Ways To Help Your Student At Home
You can help your child by spending time with them and engaging them in things you do every day.  For example have them read a book to you while you are cooking or working in the yard. Then take the time to discuss the book in depth.  Who, What, Where, When, Why questions are a great place to start.  The most important thing is to get your child reading grade level appropriate books. Also vary what they read such as book, poems, non fiction, fiction and more. I recommend Highlights Magazines because they are fun for kids and have a lot of good reading skills.

PE
It is just wonderful that I get to spend half of the day in PE working with all grade levels. Our focus in PE is to get students moving and to engage them in fun activities they can continue playing for the rest of their life. Talk to your kids about what we are doing in PE!!! If you are interested in helping PE on field day with field or gym events please contact me. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS

Please Collect Box Tops For Education to help get new equipment for PE
